Now, we need to educate ourselves on network ports and protocols to make sure the things we're used to doing still work with new hardware. That doesn't mean they do but with Apple hardware, we knew things were going to work properly. Networking equipment is supposed to follow standards, meaning they are supposed to work with all standards-based networking hardware. Normally, a router broadcasts the Wi-Fi signal in all directions. IPv6 operates as a separate network to IPv4, and has the capacity for more IP addresses and more features. This doesn't mean anything they sell is good, it just means they are a huge company that makes all sorts of things. IPv6 is a newer version of the Internet Protocol. Samsung is the only company that supplies networking devices but they also sell refrigerators, microwaves, and washing machines, in other words, everything. Apple was the only company that supplied everything (except for cable and DSL modems). ![]() No, because almost all WiFi routers are sold by companies that don't make computers, phones or tablets. If I have to turn to third party solutions for my local network, doesn’t that make it even easier to turn to other parties for phones, tablets and computers? ANYONE that has bridging on a 6th gen AE with some other device (Airport Extreme/Express, Netgear, D-Link, etc.) without the WiFi freaking out please speak up. ![]()
